Year 9 students from St Mary’s recently returned from an exciting educational visit to New York City, where they experienced a rich blend of learning, culture, faith, and reflection.
The trip began with a visit to MoMath, the National Museum of Mathematics, where students engaged in interactive activities that made mathematical concepts to life in fun and engaging ways. This hands-on experience sparked creativity and deepened their appreciation for the subject.
At the Science Hall, students explored innovative exhibits and interactive displays, sparking curiosity and inspiring their scientific thinking. These experiences offered valuable insights into the wonders of science and technology in an immersive environment.
A particularly special part of the journey was a visit to St Peter’s Church, where the students were warmly welcomed by Fr Quinn to participate in the family Mass. This spiritual moment provided an opportunity for reflection, prayer, and a deeper connection to their faith while away from home.
The students also visited the 9/11 Memorial, where students reflected on the significance of the site and paid tribute to those who affected in the tragic events. This moment provided a powerful reminder of resilience, unity, and hope.
Beyond the educational and spiritual highlights, the group also enjoyed iconic sights of New York City, including breath-taking views from the Empire State Building, a scenic cruise around the Statue of Liberty, and a memorable evening at a Broadway performance of The Great Gatsby.
The combination of academic enrichment, culture experience, and spiritual growth made this trip an unforgettable experience for the Year 9 students – one they will treasure for years to come.
