Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School in Ware recently celebrated a vibrant and enriching mid-October, bringing together pupils, parents, and staff through cultural learning and joyful outdoor play.
The school held an International Week from 13th to 17th October 2025, providing pupils with opportunities to learn about and celebrate the diverse cultures. Pupils listened to traditional stories and songs, enjoyed food tasting, and shared their own culture boxes, helping to foster understanding and appreciation for different cultures. A particular highlight for many was the Indian dance workshop, where pupils enjoyed learning new rhythms and movements in an engaging and inclusive session.
Another highlight was the ‘Living Library’, where parents shared their cultural backgrounds with pupils. Children listened to short talks and asked questions about different customs and traditions. One pupil said: “My favourite parts were the biscuits from Peru with caramel and icing sugar. I love this week!”
The school also welcomed parents to an OPAL Parent Day, giving them the chance to experience the school’s Outdoor Play and Learning provision (OPAL) first-hand. Following a talk from Mr Rob Francksen, Managing Director of OPAL, families headed outside to play together. They enjoyed building dens, playing in the sandpit, and creating imaginative dishes in the mud cafe.
