St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School (Hertford), part of the St Francis of Assisi Catholic Academy Trust, has been awarded “The Overall Winning School” in the 2025 Children’s Art Competition, receiving a £500 prize in recognition of pupils’ outstanding artistic achievements.
The annual competition is organised by The Countryside Charity Hertfordshire (CPRE). During the presentation ceremony held on 11th October 2025, two pupil representatives, together with Art Leader and teacher Ms Loveitt, received the prize on behalf of the school.
Headteacher Mr Martin Maloney congratulated the pupils, saying, “We are incredibly proud of our pupils’ artistic achievements and of the wonderful way they represented St Joseph’s with such enthusiasm and grace.” He added that the £500 prize will be used to further support creative learning across the school, continuing to encourage artistic exploration and expression among pupils.
The judging panel noted that St Joseph’s (Hertford) was selected as the overall winner because the pupils demonstrated impressive creativity and technical ability, using a wide range of different media. The entries were praised for their sensitivity and thoughtful interpretation of the theme, capturing their adventures in the countryside and what nature means to them.
In addition, Aleksander, a pupil at St Joseph’s Primary School (Bishop’s Stortford), also part of the St Francis Trust, received “Commended” recognition in the Year 1-2 category.
